FO- The Forever Socks- Forever done!

Thought you would never see this day-- well, neither did I. I would have had them done on Friday night if I had not confused myself with the Kitchener stitch. I tried to tink back but and ended up ripping back to where the toe started! I have also tried creating a mosaic in Flikr. I spent hours reading help. Uploaded the pictures, deleted them and uploaded a second time. Well, I did manage to create one but have not figured out how to upload it to my blog. It is in my collection on Flikr if you are so inclined to see them again. I copied it to my computer and it is really tiny. So I am just going to show you all the views individually.
This is the 2nd sock.

This is sock #1

The #$@^% pair together!!

OK, now that you have seen all the views you can see that while they were knit from one skein of Misty Mountain Farm Jubilee- Crimson Tide, they do not match. When I started the 2nd sock I matched up my cast on using the tail from sock 1's cast on. I have never had this happen before. I did not realize the difference until I started the heel. Once sock 1 was done it was put it in my bag. It did not see the light of day since April when I started sock 2. I double checked the amount of stitches for each sock. Check, 72 stitches divided between two needles 36 per needle. I checked this 4 times for each sock. I used a size 2 Addi 24" cable.

I have cast on for a new project. Something simple. It is from the Itty-bitty Nursery book that I received last week. While I was there I could not help but add in two skeins of Felici Self Striping Sock Yarn in the Gelato color way. I am going to try and figure out how to substitute yarn and make something for a baby. Don't have one to make it for but we never run out of babies and I am never ready for when one comes along.

Now if I could figure out how to add a slide show, cross out type and so much more that I see other blogger's do on g00gle blog. I really do not want to change sites at this point.

I hope your Memorial Day weekend was a pleasant one. I know mine was quite and I was really glad to see the rain today. Yes, Lynn, I was glad. It kept the millions of kids I have in my community in the house. The past few years we have had little turnover in families, which is good, but the kids are getting bigger and louder each year. I have lived here long enough to see them from toddler to college.

I am now going to watch a movie "The Secret Life of Bees", I listened to the audio book and loved it and knit my new project.
BTW, I am still fighting ants. I went to Wal Mart on Friday and got Taro inside and outside traps. I went again this afternoon and picked up two gallons of the super duper spray for in & outside. I am so over these little creatures. I hate not being 'green' but I am at my wits end. I hope the product does what it says it will do and I can get a friendlier product to use as a follow up.

Bilby, Who's got the Bilby?

I received my Easter Bilby from Denise on Tuesday and would have posted immediately but I can home to ants. But I digress. As you may have read earlier, Denise does not have Peeps down under so we did a Easter exchange. Just look at her beautiful art work. The note card is available on her site as well as the magnet in the middle. I have the magnet at work where I will see it daily. The art on the magnet was featured in the Vogue Knitting (Winter 07/08 issue). What I loved about the t-shirts on Cafe Press was they have a V neck in plus sizes, this is my favorite.

Denise also sent a Cherry Ripe. Who knew Cadbury made different candies for different countries. It was delicious. I just found this site where we can order About Australia & British Delights. There was also bar of Lemon Myrtle Natural Soap. She also sent a package of 100 Collector's Stamps. Thank you Denise. I'm still daring you you to show us your purple hair with the bunny ears!

Saturday Morning

This was my sunrise this morning. I was trying to take a picture of my pear tree but it did not show up. Now go and check out Robin's from the same morning. We live in the same state. Saw the same sun rise. Isn't nature amazing.

My Garden

The pear tree at two weeks.

My lone Hyacinth. It was forced in house many, many years ago and has doubled in size. It is a deep dark purple.

Ants: I had this problem last year but I did not think it would happen so early in the season. I left an empty soda cup on my coffee table and when I got home Tuesday and went to turn on the remote there were tiny ants traveling up and down this empty cup. Now my coffee table is about 15 ft from the front door. These little suckers were coming in from the front door following the edge of the area rug turning right along said carpet and climbing up the coffee table to the empty cup. I had just walked in from a 40 minute commute and this was not good. I had to pee. But I could not stand to let them do their thing a second longer. I grab the closest thing at hand, 409 cleaner, spray the ants, the table, and found where they were coming from. I sprayed all around the edge of the carpet out to the front door. Oh, I have to go! I'm determined to finish this killing spree. I then grab my swifter, add a dusting pad to it and swipe the area I had sprayed. This is getting to me, I don't want to wet my pants. Globs of paper towels, a couple of swifter dusting pads and then I went to the bathroom. The cats were watching in panic as their Mom (maid) must be out of her mind. This was not the routine. We must be fed! They all followed me to the bathroom. Pia, of course, yelling for the group. Finished up, fed them and cleaned up some more. All was right in our world.

Now tell me, do the ants send out 1 guy to scout for a sticky empty cup of soda. Did they investigate all 1000 sq ft of my place to settle there? How the hell do they do it? Did the lead guy have a bugle and then called in the troupes. Why not the kitchen sink? The was a sticky empty bowl of ice cream sitting in the sink. I'm not sure what gods plan was for these tiny creatures but they sure get to me.

What's for dessert?

Oh, lets go to KSee's for left over pie. That is what A#1 said. So he went to back to his crew and said it is open house night. Plus, she does not go into work today, this was sometime Friday a.m. What a party that was had by all. What work went into this affair. They came in a steady stream. Oh, A#2 says "I want to take some home will you help me out here?" Of course said A#1001. So all night they worked taking bits and pieces back home. So I, the host, woke up and realized that I had the day off! I needed my coffee! Oh, what a party! What a mess! OK, maybe there were not a 1001 ants, yes, little tiny ones, the size of pepper, who had a system down. What remarkable creators they are but not on my kitchen counter! See, Friday is trash day, so I finished up a pie and let the plate sit out to go out in the next mornings trash. No coffee for me. I grab my Clorox wipes and started wiping up. Basically, dismantled the kitchen counter, cleaned everything. Then used ant sprayed around the window. Left the room for about an hour. When back in and cleaned up one more time for good measure. Then I had my coffee. Good thing I was off.
I've met these guys before. I feed Zorro & Stanley on the patio and on one rare occasion (they always eat the last bit) there was 1 tiny piece of dry food left. So, I go out for a smoke. Yes, bad habit. But its out there for all to know! (Haven't done it in the house for 7 years). I look down and there they are. All over this bit of food. The troops are a coming n' a going. Its a remarkable site. So I sit there watching and realize that they are doing something that we, the free willed, would probably not do. They have a route that they do not waver from a fairly straight line. Some are circleing the bowl, others are on their way back, passing others on their way in. Next time I'm out there not a soul in site.
I think these teeny tiny ants show up once a year. I've never paid attention to when they come so this entry will help me next year! I'll be armed and ready.
